Baseball Coaches

Head Coach:  Chan Brown

Coach Chan Brown is in his 14th year at Parkview High School. This is Coach Brown’s 13th year as the Parkview Varsity Baseball Head Coach. He is a graduate of Tucker High School in Tucker, Georgia and went on to play baseball at Hillsborough in Tampa, Florida and then at Georgia State University in Atlanta. After college, he played a brief stint of independent minor league baseball.

He began his teaching and coaching career at Burke County High School in WaynesboroGeorgia in 1998-1999. Then he became the head baseball coach at Elbert County High School in Elberton, Georgia where he also coached football from 1999-2002. He relocated to Northwest Whitfield High School in Dalton, Georgia where he coached baseball and football in 2003. He was Parkview’s Head JV Baseball Coach in 2004. Coach Brown also coached football at Parkview on the Varsity level from 2004-2007.

Coach Brown now teaches Physical Education at Parkview High School.

Coach Brown is married to Teaneal Brown of Elberton, Georgia.  They are the proud parents of Cade and Beckett.

Assistant Coach: David Reynolds

Coach David Reynolds is in his 7th year as a Parkview Baseball assistant coach. Parkview is his alma mater, having played baseball and football here as a student. Coach Reynolds is married to Anne Marie, who also teaches at Parkview.

Assistant Coach:  Justin Bishop

The 2017 season marks the 8th year for Justin Bishop as an assistant baseball coach at Parkview High School and his 16th year overall.  At Parkview, Coach Bishop teaches Health & Physical Education and he is the head coach for the Parkview softball program.

Prior to coming to Parkview, Coach Bishop served as an assistant football coach and the head baseball coach at Berkmar High School for three years.

Justin is married to the former Ms. Catherine Royal of Stockbridge, GA.

The couple has two children, a daughter- Avery (8) and a son- Mack (4).  The family resides in Lilburn.

Assistant Coach:  Mark Lowrey

Coach Mark Lowery has been on the coaching staff at Parkview Baseball for 5 years. He is currently the Head JV Coach, as well as the catching coach for the program.

Coach Lowery is married and has children in the Parkview school district.

Assistant Coach:  Mike Cooper

The 2017 season marks the 8th season that Michael Cooper will be an assistant coach for the Parkview Baseball team.

At Parkview, Coach Cooper teaches Language Arts/Special Education.

Assistant Coach:  Dustin Kline

Coach Kline is entering his fourth season with Parkview Baseball. A proud graduate of the University of Florida (BA ’10, MA ’12), he  served as a student manager with the Gators during the 2011-2012 seasons which included an SEC Championship as well as two trips to the College World Series in Omaha.  Prior to his time with the Division I program, Kline ran the Gators NCBA Club Baseball team from 2007-2010. After graduation, he spent the 2013 season as an assistant for State Champion Ponte Vedra High School in Ponte Vedra, FL. He played high school baseball at Stanton College Prep (’06) in Jacksonville, FL. Coach Kline teaches math at Parkview and currently lives in Atlanta with his wife Victoria.

Assistant Coach: Ellis Appling

Coach Ellis Appling has been a coach with Parkview Baseball since 2013. Prior to that, he coached baseball, softball and football at Lithonia High School for 7 years. Coach Appling played baseball and football as a student at Lithonia HS, and went on to play baseball at Alabama State.

Assistant Coach: Roy “Chief” Massey

Coach Roy Massey, also known as “Chief,” has retired from coaching after 50 years in high school baseball, but remains on staff as the groundskeeper. He taught Industrial Arts at Parkview from 1978 until his retirement in 1994. During that time and beyond, he helped coach football for the Panthers, and was the head coach of the 9th grade baseball program for many years. Prior to coming to Parkview, Coach Massey was the head baseball coach at Dunwoody High School. Coach Massey is a graduate of Southern Mississippi University.

Chief is married to Ada Jeanne and they have two daughters, Trish and Leigh. They also have a son, Vince, who is the head baseball coach at Brookstone High School in Columbus, Georgia. Coach Massey’s grandchildren are Morgan, Banks (also known as “Little Chief”), Wesley, Pearson, Coates and Lily Claire.
